Design, Build & Maintenance of Sabhan Labor City Back to Ongoing Projects

Sabhan Labor City – Case Study

Sabhan Labor City represents a design so precise and challenging and is of high importance to the State of Kuwait's strategic development plan. KBH was selected by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) to develop a first-of-its-kind labor city in Sabhan Area – an area where Kuwait’s major factories reside. While KBH has had experience in developed labor camps, this project was at a much broader scale.

KBH's team scanned the site multiple times prior to kick-off and through their three-month study they concluded that the original design by the architects required minor alternation due to unforeseen site conditions. The KBH designers had to ensure that the modified design was compliant with the State’s regulations and standards, as well as, global human rights standards.

The main features of the project include the construction of 18 three-story buildings sitting on a total area of 60,000m2. Each building consists of 44 studios to accommodate a total of 3168 foreign labor. What's unique about this project is that it includes all the major human life support services such as leisure areas, mosque, clinic, security checkpoints, and commercial zone areas.

The project is complete and ready for hand-over. The project’s value is KD 6.9 million.
